Gas Fireplace Service & Safety Review
A gas-fireplace appointment for accessible cleaning, ignition and burner operation, visible venting condition and equipment-specific safety checks.
Maintenance or active fault
Know which problem the appointment needs to solve.
Annual service covers applicable cleaning, ignition, flame, venting and safety observations. A failed valve, sensor, control, fan or damaged gasket is a repair and is quoted separately. A gas odour is an emergency—not a routine booking.
The flame appearance changes, soot appears or startup is delayed
The fan, remote or wall control no longer responds correctly
There is a gas odour, booming sound or other immediate safety concern
The visit starts with the actual intent.

Make the larger decision with evidence.
Many fireplace faults are repairable, but obsolete controls, unavailable parts, damaged firebox or venting components and the condition of the complete appliance may make replacement planning more responsible.

Questions customers ask.
Plain answers about price, scope, safety and what happens if the service identifies a repair.
Is a $50 rebate guaranteed?
No. FortisBC currently lists $25 per eligible fireplace, to a maximum of two, for qualifying customers. Program requirements and approval belong to FortisBC.
Does service include repair parts?
No repair part is assumed to be included. If a component is recommended, you should receive an explanation and price before authorizing additional work.
What if I smell gas?
Leave the area and call the FortisBC emergency line at 1-800-663-9911 or 911 from a safe location. Do not wait for a routine service appointment.
